Coffee is a universal passion that brings people from all over the world together, and if there’s one country known for producing high-quality beans, it’s Colombia. Its green mountains, perfect climate, and passionate farmers create a magical combination that translates into exceptional coffee. What better way to appreciate it than by preparing it in a French press? Let us take you on a sensory journey through the benefits, features, and the best recipe for brewing Colombian coffee using this practical extraction method.

The French press is the perfect choice to highlight the nuances of Colombian coffee. Its full-immersion method allows essential oils and flavors to blend in perfect harmony, delivering a full-bodied and richly flavored cup of coffee. Additionally, the French press is very easy to use, allowing you to enjoy a high-quality homemade coffee experience without complications.

What you’ll need:

Victoriana Coffee: 20 grams.

Grind: medium.

Water quantity: 360 grams/ml.

Water temperature: 88°C/190°F.

Here’s how you prepare it:

Start with freshly roasted Victoriana Coffee Company beans. Freshness is key to fully appreciate distinctive flavors. Grind the beans to a medium coarseness just before brewing your coffee.

Heat filtered water until it reaches a temperature of around 88°C/190°F. This ensures an optimal brewing and prevents an over-extracted brew.

Add a little hot water to the French press to preheat it, swirling the water around to reach the sides of the container. Discard the water.

Add the ground Victoriana coffee to the bottom of the press and distribute it evenly to create a uniform bed.

Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds and gently stir with a spoon. Make sure to cover all the grounds and then place the press lid on without pressing it down.

Allow the coffee to steep for approximately 4 minutes to achieve a complete extraction. During this time, flavors will blend and develop, creating a balanced and delicious cup of coffee.

Once the steeping time is up, slowly press the plunger down with a smooth and steady motion. This will separate the grounds from the liquid, leaving you with a ready-to-enjoy cup.

Serve the coffee in a cup and take a moment to appreciate its captivating aroma before taking the first sip. Feel free to try it without any additives like sugar or milk to fully savor the natural flavor.

Remember, you can start with our suggested recipe as a reference but adjust it to your liking until you find the flavor combination you want to highlight by adding more coffee or using less water.

If you don’t have a scale to measure the amount of water and coffee, you can use a kitchen measuring spoon as an approximate guide.

One tablespoon is roughly equivalent to about 10 grams of coffee, and one cup is approximately 236 ml of water.

You can approximate the ideal water temperature by bringing the water to a boil on the stove and letting it rest for about 45 seconds. This ensures that the water isn’t too hot and won’t alter the coffee’s flavor.

Serve and enjoy!
